“We have started this conference in Upper Nile State and now we have come to Unity State then we will be going to Warrap,” said Maj. Gen. Kuol Deng Abot, Chairman of National Security Drafting committee.

Abot said the formulation of the national security policy is nonetheless a responsibility of all citizens in private and public institutions to share their opinions on matters related to national security.

“Since independence, there has been new impetus to revive a consultative and comprehensive national security framework to guide the sectorial reform processes, based on broader development objectives,” he said.

“South Sudan is a post-conflict and a new nation…consolidation of peace to create a secure and stable environment for socio-economic development is a first order priority, an appropriate and affordable security sector is essential to deliver stability,” he added.

The State Deputy Governor is also the State Minister of Local Government and Law Enforcement.

The workshop asked each and every one to contribute and the documents that will show national interest.

Manyiew Dak Gong, the State Advisor on Security Affairs said the local community needs to stand firm with the government during the dialogue with the people at the national, state, county and payam levels.

Dak urged the conference to focus mainly on the issues related to the security such as interstate cattle raiding.
