Col. James Monday, the Police Spokesperson told the press in Juba that several police emergency courts have already been established in all the ten states objectively to deal with the conduct of the police in the country.

“I would like to tell you that last week more than 21 police men were dismissed by the police court in Juba and there were three that were sentenced to prison and after that they go home. Nine were stopped,” Monday said.

He said the service has recruited a number of police professional lawyers who are employed to deal with the discipline of the police. The move he said, is taken aimed to eliminate the indiscipline police.

He said there has been an increase in the number of police dismissed already in the service following the establishment of the courts last year.

In an exclusive related development, the Spokesperson said insecurity in Juba has reduced compared to last year and 2011, saying statistics reveal the trend.

Monday pointed out that there are key areas in Juba where the sinister is still critical and more efforts need to be put on by both government and the citizens.

He pointed out that areas at Rock city, Gudele Block 1 and 2 and Kor Williang are some of the serious breeding grounds for goons at night.

He said these areas among others have poor infrastructural development in terms of proper constructed roads and affect effective patrol of police and security personnel.

He also said they have a stream and are rocky providing good locations for criminals to hide.

The Ministry is implementing a number of strategies including intensified daily night patrols and police capacity building aimed at reducing crime in the city.
