Sheik Sultan Abdel Baghy Akol Agany, the Head of South Sudan Muslims travelled from Juba to Malakal to solve Muslims disagreement in the state.

After hearing the complaints, Sheikh Agany resorted to dissolve office forming a steering committee.

“The Muslims’ complaints against the executive office are true,” he said.

“After hearing the report from state Shura Council against the state executive office and after receiving complaints from the state Muslims, mosque workers and traders on their aggrieving from the executive office and the loss of their money. I found that those complaints and the accusations are true and have proved against the state executive office,” said a decree signed by Sheik Akol, the National Shura and High Level committee chairperson.

Muslims in Upper Nile state have had some grievances with state executive office for sometimes.

“I decree the dissolution of the executive office the Islamic Council in UNS starting from the 5th of May 2013 and form the steering committee from the 15 members representing the state council for the six months to prepare for general conference,” Akol stated.

He commanded that the office should be closed and the keys should be submitted to the Shura Council and would be delivered to the steering committee.

The 15- member steering committee is chaired by Nuol Ajak Agany a citizen from Renk County and his deputy being Musa Akec Kur from Panyikang County.

All 15 members are selected representing the thirteen counties in the state with Renk and Panyikang counties getting the advantage of two members each.

There is only one female member, Maria Ajak Jago in the steering committee.
