The $40,000 two-roomed VCT centre has been constructed by the State Ministry of Social Development, Culture, Youth and Sport in collaboration with the Health Ministry using funds from the National HIV/AIDS Alliance.

A Program officer for HIV/AIDS at the National HIV/AIDS Alliancein Eastern Equatoria State Joseph Oniku told Gurtong that the facility will offer HIV/AIDS services as well as reproductive health education to the youth in Torit town.

He said that the HIV/AIDS Alliancesecured funding from the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA).

Oniku said his organisation has allocated $ 39,972 for the completion of the on-going construction of the youth-friendly facility in Torit between the Airstrip and Hotel Torit.

In Marchthis year, the State Social Development, Culture, Youth and Sport Minister Patrick Lodinga Kotein, the Ministry Director General Simon Auwas Pidemoi and Ministry Director for Youth and Sports William Okot De Toby affirmed their satisfaction with the progress of the construction works when they visited the site.

Lodinga told Gurtongthat thepremises will accommodate a number of social services ranging from VCT,training, consultation as well as other social amenities which the centre will deem necessary to offer.

The DGPidemoi disclosed that his Ministry is currently working closely with the State Ministry of Health to ensure the facility implements its objectives once completed.

“We plan to offer services such as treatment and managementof sexually transmitted diseases, laboratory services, referral,  recreational services and family planning services”, he said.

The facility received initial support from a non-governmental organisation, Merlin International.

    the proposal you made and posted are so of positive future plane of which if put in action will make our state so effective in fighting of HIV/AIDS and also educate the the youth from the different parts of the state
