New Torit Catholic Diocese Administrator Expected Saturday

Reverend Oloha was appointed on 25May 2013following the death of the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Torit Johnson Akio Mutek on the 18 March 2013.

Christians and clergy in the Diocese are holding series of meetings and mobilisation of Christian communities in Torit to welcome the Administrator who is expected on Saturday 8, June 2013.

The ex-Vicar General of the Catholic Diocese of Torit Father Joseph Ukelo told the press that selected members of priests and parish council on Monday formed committees to organise for reception of Reverend Oliha.

He urged the faithful to demonstrate love and respect to the Apostolic Administrator by turning up in large numbers to receive him, saying Reverend Oliha offered himself to serve his people by responding to their call.

He said the new Administrator will oversee the pastoral and social activities in the diocese.

In an announcement repeatedly read by Catholic-owned Radio Emmanuel 89, Reverend Oliha is expected to lead a Holy mass at Our Lady of Assumption Parish Church in Torit town on Sunday.

Christians at Our Lady of Assumption Parish and St. Peter and St. Paul Cathedral Parish in Torit town are engaged in intense preparations for the reception.

Born on 1941, to Atiyyah and Seger of Hileu in Torit County of Eastern Equatoria State, Reverend Olihahasalso been a parish priest of Gordin of Wau Catholic Diocese in Aweil.

He was ordained a priest of the Apostles of Jesus congregationin 1969 at Moroto in Uganda.

Among his work experiences, Reverend Oliha served as Rector of several Seminary Schools in Uganda, Kenya and Sudan for over 30 years.

He served as the Vicar General of the congregation of Apostles of Jesus for six years before another six years as the superior General of the congregation.

The interim Catholic Diocesan Administrator the Chancellor Dario Hakim had been acting head of the Diocese prior to Reverend Oliha’s appointment.
