Caruna appreciated being in Yambio, saying she is privileged to work in collaboration with Commissioner Hon. Kuzee John Elia whom she said had also worked for a humanitarian organization before.

Caruna pledged to update the office of the commissioner on regular bases on the activities they are carrying out in the county and asked to know some of expectations of the County from UNHCR since each county may have different needs.

Mrs. Caruna pledged to help in areas of concern as she urged the commissioner to advise her office on issues of concern because he is the right person that works directly with the people from the grassroots.

The commissioner on his part expressed gratitude to UNHCR and welcomed Mrs. Caruna her new appointment, saying she should feel at home.

Hon. Kuzee said that Yambio County previously had more than 25,000 refugees and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).

The commissioner however urged Humanitarian agencies to give refugees and IDPs seeds to support farmers and cultivation in the County. 

He also noted that Yambio County with support from partners like the FARM Project and USAID is opening feeder roads to boost agricultural activities in the County.

Kuzee stated that there are a number of Congolese refugees who are in Makpandu refugee settlement and the state is ensuring that there is security provided to them. He urged the new Head of office to support the County RRC office.

Hon. Kuzee finally called for some support in linking Nadiangere Payam which is more than 100 miles out of the County Head Quarters by s opening feeder roads to link the Payam and the Head Quarters.
