Hassan made his call while addressing the members of Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) at the party secretariat in Wau just a month following President Salva Kiir’s call on state governors to structure the SPLM party at the state levels.

This is based on the states reports on the suspended SPLM secretary general Pagan Amum that SPLM ruling party was becoming unpopular and failing.

The governor said that the ruling party officials must put together efforts to unite and fight corruption.

“We have to consider our people first in what we are doing as they expect us to deliver services to them,” the governor said while referring his idea back to what he discussed recently with the state assembly members.

Hassan urged the general public to maintain respect to each other and preserve the norms of their governing SPLM party adding that unity is the only way to fight corruption and elimination to tribalism.

“We had fought the war to achieve peace which we are now enjoying and now, we have to fight corruption so that we can again achieve development and combat insecurity which is more caused by shabbiness,” he said.

He said that the people get involved in corruption through different ways while blaming on government but corruption is being practiced by everybody including those in the rural areas like local chiefs who do preside over cases and later on make corruption.

Hassan who mostly spoke about corruption also urged SPLM state officials to continue sensitization the people on the vision of SPLM of taking town to the people and to support president Kiir in fight corruption as a whole.
