On Friday evening, the acting Governor John Ivo Mounto issued a decree to suspend the activities in the state Parliament.

In the gubernatorial instruction read on the local South Sudan Radio in Malakal, Hon Ivo in his order mentions that the members of parliament shall not be allowed to conduct sittings or meetings again after the order.

There was no explanation on limitation of the closure and the reasons behind the move were not given.

The order said: “Legislative assembly will not operate until further notice.”

However, the order cited out that the “Parliamentary Secretariat will continue to function.”

The state august house had just opened a month ago after the MPs cleared a three-month recess.

The Speaker of the Parliament who had been away for sometime has just returned to Malakal a week ago.
