Wani John, a Manager of drivers at the Juba main park explained to Gurtong that the incident took place at 5pm on Tuesday after the river was badly filled with rain water.

“It killed a child. The mother to the child was having her two children with her. The other one I think is five years old. So the baby at hand was grabbed by the water on due course of the incident,” Wani said.

“Some of the bags were got this morning from the river and the vehicle is still at the river,” he added.

The vehicle was over turned while it was heading its way to Juba from Kajo-Keji.

The Juba-Kajo-Keji road has still remained a challenge to human and economic life despite community efforts initiated early this year to rehabilitate the dangerous bridges of river Limu and Jomus.

Other eye witnesses and analysts have warned if heavy rains continue, the situation is likely to worsen.
