“The Caretaker Governor and the entire cabinet have directed the ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Urban Development to immediately start the renovation of 45 kilometre internal main roads in the State Capital,” said Khor.

He said they have brought engineers from Juba to evaluate the areas but due to inaccessibility of roads they could not make it now because there is no road for them to transport their construction materials.

Peter Kuol Koang a citizen of Unity State who is concerned for the lack of proper roads said “it would be sound full if the government decided to start the roads construction as you may see this round about that all cars pass by is totally damaged and nobody thinks of renovating it.”

Unity State is one of the 10 States of South Sudan which is locked out due to its bad roads that lead to the high price of commodities all over the State and many County such as Panyijiar, Mayendit, Leer, Koch, Mayom and Abiemnom that are inaccessible from the State Capital.

The process of refurbishing the internal roads at this worse time of rain would not take place as constructors would not make it to transport their construction materials from Juba.

The road renovations may take place may be in the beginning of the dry seasons probably at the end of this Month.

Bentiu-Tharjiath road is one of the most affected since its last renovation was in 2010 and has forced the commercial flights that used to land at Tharjiath Air trip to land at Unity Oil Field.
