“The new payams which are not yet named are being given to the counties in accordance to the population average,” John Urbano Madut told the press on Tuesday.

The minister said fifteen new payams were approved for both Raga and Jur and seven for Wau County.

“The additional creation of new payams in the three counties is in response of South Sudan National Government’s plans to extend basic and other services nearer to the citizens across the country,” Madut said.

Raga County Commissioner Hon. Hassan Jalab says the creation of additional payams will positively reduce people’s migration from rural areas to urban areas in search of basic services.

He says it will be very easy for the government to render any assistance to its community when it is available.
