The airline’s managing director, Mr. Obaj William Olau, said that the “The newly-launched jet airline, which started its operation services today in Wau, will be having three flight a week from Juba to Wau”, continuing: “we are expecting to extend our direct flights from Wau to Entebbe as we are right now doing in Juba.”

The company, which is operated by SKA-South Africa, will run two cargo planes and one passenger jet on the route. The price of a ticket from Wau to Juba will start from 600 South Sudanese Pounds (around US $150).

Western Bahr el Ghazal state (WBGS) governor Rizik Zackaria Hassan, speaking during the launch in Wau, described the event as a first step towards realizing his call for the transfer of the nation’s capital to the WBGS capital. He added that he hoped and that the state would gain momentum in improving its economy as a result of improved air links.

The opening of new airline flights to Wau was attended by the South Sudan legislative assembly speaker, Hon. Manase Magok, and the speaker of the Council of States, Hon. Bol Chan. Also in attendance was the national minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Hon Lual Achuil.

Golden Wings MD Mr. Olau urged the people of South Sudan to cooperate with the company in helping to improve air transport in the country.

The new airline is being operated by SKA south Africa.
