Bor community members turned out in large numbers on Wednesday to welcome the release of Isaiah Chol Aruei, Mading Akueth and Aleer Langar who were abducted by the SPLM in Opposition in Jiech Payam Jonglei State.

JUBA 6, February 2015 [Gurtong]- Negotiations between the government and the opposition group together with humanitarian organizations and the international community asking for their release finally bared fruit when the leader of the opposition group, Riek Machar released the trio.
The trio who all hail from Bor community received a grand welcome from the members of their community on arrival to Juba International Airport.

Arok Ayen, from Bor community welcomed the release of the three members and applauded the opposition for their good gesture.

“I am happy that elders of our community were released by the rebels in Jiech – I thank the rebel commander for accepting the decision to release them.” said Arok

Mary Aker says the decision should be seen as a sign of peace.

“This is the new beginning between Bor community and Nuer residing in Bor to work closely and to preach for peace and reconciliation – we need peace because everyone is tired of fighting there is no reason for fighting. We need to educate our children and to secure the future of our elderly people to have a good life,” said Aker.

 The opposition area’s commander in Jiech, Gabriel Duop Lam, told Gurtong that the release was a gesture for peace.

“We released them because we are ready for peace.” said Duop.
