The Dinka Ngok Chief, Belbek Kuol has accused the government of Sudan of attacking the Abyei region bordering Difra in Rumamer County on Monday.
 
Abyei, March 3 2015[Gurtong] –Sultan Belbek Kuol said on information received from people fleeing the area shows that the Commissioner of Debeb ordered the Sudan Armed Forces to move East of Abyei where Marual Achak, lou and Tangilal area are located

“According to the information received, the Commissioner of Dibeb ordered the Sudan armed force to attack East of Abyei to cause some displacement of the local population” Kuol said.

Belbek said gunshots were heard from the area and they received thousands of people running from Marual Achak to Rumamer.

“We understand from someone coming from Marual Achak who saw the burning of houses, and he said shops and houses were set on fire by Sudan armed forces and until now, more details are still coming in and this morning we are confident there was an attack" he stated.

Belbek told Gurtong that five people were killed during the incident including three children.
He said the people living in the area have now fled for fear that the attacks may get worse.

“We are not sure whether they (attackers) have returned to where they came from or they are just around the area, no one knows exactly” said Belbek.

He confirmed that thousands have already been displaced to Rumamer.
