YAMBIO, 08 July 2015 [Gurtong]-The Catholic Parish Priest of St. Mary’s in Yambio is calling for the release of the 35 detained youth arrested by the SPLA forces in Maridi, Western Equatoria State on the 25th of June.

Rev. Fr. Peter Moudie is asking the national government to give a clear explanation regarding the detention of the 35 youth.

“We find it necessary to explain and allow the parents and relatives of the youth who were captured in Maridi County, because ever since the boys were moved to the capital Juba nobody knows their where abouts. As a church we are asking the national government to allow the authorities get to know where the boys are.”

The Catholic Priest of Tombura-Yambio Diocese condemned how the 35 youth were taken away without the knowledge of Western Equatoria State government adding that it does not symbolize peace rather provocation of the people and the state government.

The SPLA forces arrested the 35 youth in what is believed to be an attempt to root out the so called  ‘arrow boys’ in Western Equatoria State.
