BOR, December 14, 2015 [Gurtong] –The project is designed by the United State Agency for International Development (USAID) to boost food security and create development in Jonglei State.

Bor County Commissioner, Isaac Mamer Ruk said that the food for assets project is being provided by the Catholic Relief Services (CRS).

The community members are expected to clear the roads starting from Kolnyang Payam from the south through to Jalle Payam in the norther part of the County.

Commissioner Ruk said it is a general policy of Bor County administration and CRS to issue food to those who engage in public duties.

“Instead of giving food for free, the CRS decided to name the food as food for work. To work and you get something to eat,” Ruk said in an interview with Gurtong.

He said that the project begun last week in Kolnyang Payam and it will continue till further notice.

The food for assets is currently being monitored by the South Sudan Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (SSRRC) in the State through some non-governmental organisation such as CRS to help the vulnerable communities work for development.
