Govt agrees to discuss price hikes in Lok Sabha

New Delhi: After lot of argument, government decided to talk to the opposition party on price hike in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. In this session voting will be done to get a neutral answer from all the Members of the Parliament (MPs).

The Parliamentary Affairs minister, Pawan Kumar Bansal told to the reporters that, after this discussion in the Lok Sabha, the solution will be framed in such a manner that every part & every MP will be agreed with the result. The solution will contain the problems responsible for the inflation & what kind of measures can be taken to control inflation. Bansal also cleared that, finance minister Pranab Mukherjee will give an overview to the day-long discussions in the debate. The ruling party has been given a notice for this. As the resolution will be a consensual one, it saves the government from any embarrassment even as it will be put to vote.

The former finance minister, Yashwant Singh from the opposition party is likely to initiate the discussion in the Lok Sabha. NDA convener Sharad Pawar & Congress leader K. S. Rao has also received the noticed for the discussion. The decision was taken in a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee after which Bansal & his two junior ministers Rajiv Shukla & Harish Rawat had tea with leader of the opposition leader Sushma Swaraj in her parliament house office.

The discussion is expected to pave the way for the smooth running of the parliament after the disruption of both the houses on the first two days of the monsoon session. Ahead of the session, Congress leaders had admitted in private that it would be difficult for the ruling coalition if the Opposition closed ranks on the issue of vice and price rise and pressed for discussion under rules which require voting.
