Bellary: About 2,000 metric tons of iron ore which valued Rs 1.5 crore was seized on Friday by officials of the forests at Sandur district. Following the seizure, Ranger Officer Forest of Sandur, Ramamurthy, said they examined the iron ores & also verified the ore that belong to.

In the mean time, Amlan Aditya Biswas, the deputy commissioner, said that, all the five check posts & five mobile squads are keeping an eye on the vigil & illegal movement of the iron ores. On July 29, the Supreme Court had ordered the immediate suspension of the mining & transportation of iron ore from Bellary, for the over-exploitation of the natural resources on a large scale which is disturbing the ecosystem.
