New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh assured to bring a strong Lokpal to eradicate the corruption from the nation. He is very much confident about that fast by Anna is not going to end the corruption from the nation.

On the occasion of the Independence Day, Manmohan Singh addressed the whole nation by saying that, no government has “magic wand” to deal with the scams & scandals done by the politicians or the common people. All the political parties have to stand “shoulder by shoulder” to end the problems. A day before Anna to start his fast, Manmohan said all these statements. He also made it clear that, the Parliament can only decide what kind of Lokpal should be implemented in the country.

"I am aware of the differences of opinion on some aspects of the bill. Those who don’t agree with this bill can put forward their views to Parliament, political parties and even the press. However, I also believe they should not resort to hunger strikes and fasts-unto-death," Singh said. He also agreed that right now corruption is the biggest menace for the nation. For the transformation of the nation into a better, we need to fight against the corruption and the progress of the nation should not come on the war of the abolition of the corruption. He also admitted that, the money meant for the development of the common people is directly going into the pockets of the government officials.

Speaking from the bullet proof enclosure, Singh also discussed the sensitive issues like land acquisition, naxalism, terrorism, economy and inflation. He mentioned for the Lokpal Bill that, “It is not right to bring the judiciary under the ambit of Lokpal as this would go against the independence of the judiciary”. Pm admitted that we do need a framework in which the judiciary becomes more accountable.
