Afghan Policemen_carrying_the_body_of_a_suicide_attacker_in_Kabul_2There is an ongoing battle among the Afghan and International security forces in Kabul since 13:30 local time (09:00 GMT) on Tuesday. It has been said that insurgents have targeted the US embassy, Nato headquarters and police buildings in Kabul.

Two Afghan gunmen had holed up in a high-rise unfinished building overlooking the diplomatic headquarter and still exchanging the fire with police. The insurgents started with firing of rockets on a number of targets in Kabul’s up market embassy district. In the meanwhile, another two suicide attackers exploded the explosives outside a police station. A third suicide attacker was killed as he tried to make it into the airport. A jail run by the intelligence service was also a target.

Taliban have taken the responsibility of this attack. Police chief Genral Ayub is of the view that this violence is led by the Haqqani network, which operates independently but is closely allied to the Taliban forces. General Ayub is relating these attacks with the 10th anniversary of 9/11 incident. While, Nato is referring it with an attempt to derail the with-drawl of International troops from Afghanistan.

At least two civilians and two policemen were killed and 22 people wounded across the city, Reuters reported, while 4 insurgents have been killed by police. Afghan President Hamid Karzai and Vygaudas Usackas, head of the European Union mission inAfghanistan, were among those who condemned these attacks.
