Calcutta High Court rejected the Tata Motors’ petition. The petition challenged the constitutional “validity of the Singur Land and Rehabilitation Act”.
The High Court also said that if the company had suffered any damage it might apply for compensation.
Justice Indraprasanna Mukhopadhyay announced the decision. Mukhopadhyay stayed the decision for a month to enable either party to appeal against it to the higher court.
The company was also directed by the court to remove all of their articles within two months from the plot.
Singur Land and Rehabilitation Act was introduced in June by Mamata. She introduced it shortly after she became Chief Minister of West Bengal. This Act allowed her government to cancel a 99-year-lease signed with Ratan Tata.
According to the previous records, 1000 acres were constructed for Nano Factory.
The Left had signed the deal which lost to Banerjee in the state elections in May this year. And Ratan Tata had challenged the Singur Act.
Tata is expected to appeal against today’s order in the Supreme Court in coming days.
