Outside the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly aggressive protests erupted. This was because of the controversial resolution which was meant to seek clemency for “2001 Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru.”

The protest was earlier than the Afzal Guru Clemency debate on Thursday.

Engineer Rashid, from Independent MLA and his supporters were arrested by the police for planning a protest outside the House. According to the reports, Rashid was released soon.

After there was a chaos in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly for the second day on Thursday the Afzal Guru Clemency debate was delayed earlier.

On Wednesday, the debate had to stop first for 30 minutes and then for a complete hour. This followed the disturbance created by the Congress and the BJP leaders.

MLAs of Congress objected to the presence of the seven BJP MLAs who were suspended earlier. This objection created clashes between the Congress and BJP MLAs.

On 13th December 2001, Afzal Guru was convicted for plotting an attack on the Parliament.

Parliament House in the Winter Session was attacked by five terrorists who killed seven security personnel.

Afzal was found guilty and the session court sentenced him to death in 2002.
