Mir Umar Farooq Chairperson of the Hurriyat Conference has issued a statement saying that international communities are trying more than ever before to get the Kashmir issue resolved and in doing so they have left India with no option but to take mandatory steps to resolve the long pending matter.

He said “No country in the world today sees Kashmir issue as India’s internal matter”.

He told the media that evidence for the freedom-loving Kashmiri’s stand in comparison with the three interlocutors appointed by New Delhi on Kashmir.

He added “When they were appointed a year ago, we termed the process as farce and time buying exercise, meant to prolong the settlement of Kashmir issue; we have seen these reports, recommendations and so-called interlocutors before. Kashmiri’s have made it clear that they don’t want anything short of right to self determination, neither autonomy nor self-rule. Besides, notwithstanding New Delhi’s integral part rhetoric at UN and other forums, no country in the world today sees Kashmir issue as India’s internal matter,”

Umar Farooq Mirwaiz said the “mass uprisings” of 2008, 2009 and 2010 had firmly established Kashmiri’s struggle for freedom as peaceful, meaningful and just at the international level.
