It has just been announced that High Court in Delhi has granted bail to Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh, who was accused for his alleged role in the 2008 cash-for-votes scam on medical grounds.

To news came as a big relief for former Samajwadi Party general secretary  Amar Singh, who was arrested on September 6 after he appeared before the trial court in response to summons for his alleged involvement in the scam.

Delhi Police counsel said “We cannot dispute the medical report of AIIMS,” He also added that Amar Singh had recorded his statement in the case so keeping in mind his medical condition they did not require his further custody.

The court confiscated his passport and ordered him to pay personal bond of Rs 50 lakh.

On 12th October, All India Institute of Medical Sciences submitted Ammar Singh’s medical report in the court citing that he needs constant medical monitoring.

Amar Singh is a diabetic, underwent a renal transplant in September 2009 and intestinal surgery 10 years ago.

The AIIMS report said Amar Singh “needs to be constantly monitored for renal function infections”.

It said he was suffering from artery and respiratory problems besides urinary tract infection.

According to the medical report “Following discharge, he needs to take medicines and follow a routine as directed to prevent any kidney transplant function deterioration,”
