One of the ministers of the cabinet of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, Shahrizat Abdul Jalil appointed as the minister of women, family and community development has announced to resign as her term in the cabinet ends to make sure that the upcoming election campaign of the PM does not suffer due to her corruption scandal.

She made the announcement to a television channel specifying she would not want the PM to suffer due to her scandals of corruption and stated that her term as a cabinet minister ends on the 8th of April, where after she will resign and not contest for the seat again at a crucial time when the PM is working his way up for the election.

Ms. Shahrizat is being held accountable to proof that her family did not use the $82 million loan sanctioned to National Feedlot Corporation. The accused minister has denied any such activities and has announced that she will not give any further comments on the case once she resigns and the matter shall be held in the court.

Several political analysts have declared the move of Najib calling for early elections with some of his cabinet members caught up in corruption scandals as risky.

On the other hand, Najib has no choice but to call elections in early 2013, to which he aims to call the elections by mid-2012 to try to elongate the regime of power for his party.
