The leader of Liberal National Party (LNP) in Queensland Campbell Newman has declared the television advertisement launched by Australian Party as “homophobic and offensive”.

The supporter of gay marriages in the state, Newman, said so on Monday after the paid commercial that was on-aired by Australian Party with the motive of damaging the popularity for LNP, which in fact has backfired as majority has raised their voice over the contents and the message of the advertisement as offensive.

He further said that he was always in favour of gay marriages and he has expressed so numerous times over the media and to the concerned authorities. However, his party opposes civil unions where his point of view was categorized as “immaterial”. Taking the new advertisement lightly, he said that the advertisement put up by Australian Party has been very evident in pointing out rightly that he supports gay marriages however this is not a decent way for a party to launch their campaign.

He further said, “Like the Labor party ads, it’s another ad based on negative nonsense and the campaign should be about the real issues for Queensland. Surely this campaign should be about a positive plan for Queensland’s future. Our party’s position is clear, we don’t support it.”
