The defence council member replacing Cuevas during his sickness leave was Jose Roy III who stated that the head of defense council was monitoring the trial during the time of his absence as well and was in constant touch with the council members.

Attending the session of the impeachment trial on Wednesday, which is also the last session before the impeachment court goes on a break for one month, Cuevas apologized to the court for his absence, where Enrile cut him and said that no apology was required.
