The Defence Minister of Singapore Ng Eng Hen who is visiting the United States at the moment met the Defence Chief of United States Leon Panetta on Friday in Washington.

The two officials met on Friday morning as per the set schedule and announced that both the officers are looking forward to healthy relationship and assured their people that both the countries have strong ties with each other, laying emphasis on the past defence relationship.

Speaking on the matter discussed within their meeting, the two informed the media that they mutually agree that the interference of the United States Defence department in Asia-Pacific has contributed towards the flourishing and friendly economies within the region. They also mentioned that the level of stability and regional security in Asia-Pacific is commendable and the credit is offered to the United States for their efforts to do so. They also highlighted the significance of the regional security forums which is an attempt to nurture healthy and friendly relationships within countries of the same region with trust.

The visiting member of Singapore, Ng Eng Hen is on a tour of four days to the United States serving as the Minister of Defence of Singapore. He landed in the US on Tuesday and is carrying out the meetings as per schedule.
