Renowned columnist of Philippines Randy David was attacked with unidentified gunmen opening fire at his residence in the university campus with all family members inside the house on Thursday.
David reported that when his house was attacked the first thing that struck him was to protect his granddaughter who was with him in the television lounge at the time the unknown men attacked. As soon as he realized their house was been attacked, he shouted for other family members on the upper floor to lie down on the ground. The police of the University of Philippines was the first one to respond to the strafing. They identified the bike number and informed that there were three men on the bike who had opened fire on the residence of the retired professor and columnist. They also said that the men fired in two episodes. The first time they opened fire at the residence at 8: 50 pm and returned fifteen minutes later to do the same at 9: 05pm.
Several bullets hit the car of Mrs. Randy David which was parked in the garage and basically saved the life of the family. One of the university policemen reported that the reaction of David when they came for rescue was, “I have no known enemies and I could not understand why some people wanted me shot.”
