DPM emphasizes on education for transformation

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyddin Yassin said that it was of utmost importance to their society to invest in better education of the next generation to ensure a transformation in terms of infrastructure, development, growth, and standard of living within the country.

Commenting further on the matter he explained that the task is a challenge for the country’s education system as it is their responsibility to produce a generation of skilled labor and take the nation to the desired level of standard of growth the country needs. He said that the contribution of the education system to the economy since the independence has been commendable but now is the time to take it further and to ensure that Malaysia moves from being a developing nation to the developed countries in the coming few years.

He said, “In our fast developing country, we must place importance on education so that we can meet the manpower needs of the country. We must provide this generation with sufficient knowledge and skills to become useful human resources for the country’s transformation.” He said so speaking at the ceremony of handing over of the papers of the land required for establishment of the Institute Aminnudin Baki. Adding to his speech, he said that Malaysia needs to achieve a target of RM 1.3 trillion GDP by 2020 and for that the education system needs to create 3.3 million fresh workers within the next 8 years.
