Two people have been reported to be dead in the region of Lyari in the port city of Pakistan where the police forces are carrying out a grand operation on Friday to remove all criminal elements from the region.

According to the initial reports, the security forces carrying out the operation were met with serious resistance from the other side as soon as the operation started. The region of Lyari has been completely shut down for the duration of the operation. Approximately, ten people have been reported to be injured in the operation and have been taken to nearby hospitals for medical help. Residents of the area spoke to the media and said that they were terrified from their sleep to wake up and hear hundreds of gunshots around their house.

SSP CID Chaudhry Aslam Khan alongside a batch of female police force is also present at the location where the operation is taking place. During the operation, the criminals also attacked one of the vehicles of the police department by grenades. No casualties have been reported. However, the response from the criminal elements has been rather strong as they also used rocket propelled grenades on the police force to refrain them from coming near their vicinity.
