One of the domestic flights of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) made emergency landing on Karachi Airport on Friday due to a fake threat given to the staff of the plane by an angry passenger on the flight.

According to the investigation, one of the passengers of flight PK-586 threatened the staff of the plane that he will hijack the plane. This happened only a little while after the plane had took off from Karachi for Bahalwarpur. As a precaution, the pilot immediately diverted the flight back to Karachi airport and the individual was handed over to the local police for further investigations. The plan had 50 plus passengers on board with the addition of the airline staff. It landed back to Karachi airport at 1 40 pm and was thoroughly searched for explosive – none were found.

Upon interrogation with the threatening passenger, Javed Ansari, he said that he had got into an argument with the air hostess and she was not behaving properly so he made a fake hijack threat and said he had no such intentions.

The spokesperson of PIA informed the media about the details and conveyed that the plane had been brought back to Karachi airport with the consent of the control panel and was the right thing to do, irrespective of the circumstances.
