The rescue team has finally found the remains of the Russian airplane carrying about 50 passengers in the mountainous region of Gunung Salak on Thursday.

The passenger plane had gone missing the day before in the mountainous region of Indonesia as it disappeared from the radars. Search and rescue teams have been looking for the plane ever since. A search helicopter spotted the remains of the plane on Thursday morning on the edge of a mountain at about 1,650 meters. The plane is reported to have been carrying a bunch of Russian embassy journalists, officials and Indonesian businessmen.

Air force spokesperson informed the media that their team is making preparations and will be soon dropped to the crashing site to search for the remains of the plane and look for survivors. Soldiers are also making their way up to the spotted crash site with the help of climbing ropes. Experts mentioned that it could take the team about six hours to reach the site on foot. The Russian embassy informed that the plane had 42 passengers on board with 8 staff members. The rescue helicopter is reported to have taken pictures of the debris found on the mountain. These pictures reveal that the plane banged into a vertical inaccessible region of the mountainous area.

President Yudhoyono said, “We fully support the Search and Rescue Agency and others who are conducting search and rescue. The evacuation of the victims who are still alive put on a priority.”
