On Wednesday, Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, Attorney General Irfan Qadir, National Assembly Speaker Dr Fehmida Mirza, the Election Commission and the Federation were issued a notice by the Supreme Court of Pakistan while hearing the same appeals challenging NA Speaker Dr Fehmida Mirza’s ruling to pass on the ineligibility reference in opposition to the prime minister to the election commission till June 16.

He spoke to the Senate Deputy Chairman Saabir Baloch at a dinner that the procedure is continuing for an easy transfer of power through the elections in the future and the people have their right to elect their own leaders.

He talked to the UN human rights body that Pakistan wanted to have observers during the next elections to make the whole process transparent and fair.  He said, “If elections are not held in a free and fair manner, then it will be dangerous for the country.”

Yusuf Raza Gilani talked to a delegation from Rawalpindi Division of MNAs hailing at the Prime Minister House on Wednesday. He ironically said repeatedly inside and outside the Parliament that the opposition has not learnt anything from the times gone by.

He also said that the Pakistan’s democratic system was supported by the consensus building pursued by the Pakistan People’s Party government and its coalition who passed 18th, 19th and 20th constitutional amendments, and due to the politics reconciliation.

“We restored the 1973 Constitution to its original form, announced the 7th National Finance Commission Award (NFC) and gave provincial autonomy to end the sense of deprivation in the provinces,” he added. He also said that all the political officials such as Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Benazir Bhutto and Muhammad Khan Junejo were removed from the government on typical corruption charges.
