President Asif Ali Zardari claims that the upcoming polls will be held on time. He alleged that militants, extremists and sectarian elements cannot threaten the government or the Election Commission of Pakistan by creating law and order situation in the country. President Zardari was referring to the current situation in Karachi.

President Zardari is visiting Karachi to review the law and order situation in the area and conduct meetings with Karachi Police and Sindh Rangers who are given a free hand to conduct targeted operations in the city. The President also had detailed discussion with Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani on Thursday.

President Zardari expressed his concern over the abduction of two Rangers personnel who were later killed in Lyari. He alleged that the official who fails to produce results should be sent packing. Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, heads of law enforcement agencies and other senior officials were also present during the meeting.

The President urged all political forces to unite and enhance the government’s efforts to maintain law and order and protect lives and property of citizens in the economic hub of the country. He declared it PPP-government’s top priority to provide security to general public. He went on assuring the Sindh officials that the federal government would extend all possible help to support the victims of bomb blasts.
