The spiritual head of the Sufi shrine has announced to protest during Pakistan PM Raja Pervez Ashraf’s visit to Ajmer Sharif on Saturday. The head alleges to record his protest against the alleged killing and beheading of Indian soldiers along the Line of Control.

“Ashraf is an unwelcome man at the dargah, as he is the head of the government of a country whose army, in gross violation of international rules, severed the head of our soldier in January,” the diwan of the shrine, Zainul Abedin Ali Khan, said in a statement on Friday.

A recent row at the LoC increased tensions between the two countries. Both Pakistan and India have expressed grave concerns over the matter. Both countries accused one another for ceasefire violations. Khan believes Ashraf’s visit is aimed at dishonoring the families of slain Indian soldiers.

“I will not welcome or be present during his visit to the Dargah. The inhuman manner in which Indian soldiers were treated by the Pakistan army is despicable and condemned it in the strongest of words. It will be a dishonor to the families of the Indian soldiers who were beheaded by their (Pakistan) army,” Khan added.

Khan is a descendant of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, the famous 12th century Sufi saint. He urged Ashraf to first apologies for the conduct of his country’s army.

“…if he is coming with a pure heart to preach, then he should have brought the heads of the soldier and should have given it to the Indian prime minister so that the mothers who did not see the faces of their children even at the time of the funeral, would have got to see their faces,” he added.
