Punjab police complains that Olympian Vijender Singh is continuously hesitating to cooperate in the multi-crore drug bust probe. The athlete has refused to give blood samples for drug testing, which might force the police to explore legal options to attain what is required to solve the case.

“Even on Monday, the orders to record the statement of Vijender in the Haryana police headquarters came from the top. This is not the way a suspected criminal is dealt with,” a district police officer complained.

The court has been requested to issue orders to obtain hair and blood samples from Vijender after he blatantly refused to help the police. Meanwhile, no solid evidence has been found indicating Vijender’s involvement in the Rs 130 cr drug haul. On the contrary, Vijender’s partner Ram Singh had admitted earlier that the two megastars consumed drugs.

Names of the two athletes came forward when NRI Anup Singh Kahlon was arrested and interrogated for keeping nearly 30 kg of heroin at his residence in the outskirts of Chandigarh. Anup told the police that boxers Ram Singh and Vijender Singh were amongst his clients. Also, the car parked outside the Zikarpur flat where 30 kilograms of heroin was recovered belongs to Vijender’s wife.

Punjab police has arrested Canada-based Kahlon, his driver Kulwinder Singh Rockey, the driver’s father Kuldeep Singh, the driver’s brother-in-law Sandeep Singh, Manpreet Singh Gill alias Mani and Gabbar Singh for being involved in the drug case.
