Outraged by Parvez Musharraf’s return and bold claims of contesting the upcoming elections, Balochistan National Party (BNP) President Sardar Akhtar Mengal called him arrogant and conceited. Mengal said similar to all other dictators, Musharraf is never going to accept his mistakes. He said an offer of PKR 2 billion proves that the dictator has made lot of money out of his uniform.
Referring to the caretaker prime minister, Mengal said his party members and supporters are still being killed while the prime minister sits in his office being all humble. He said there are not doubts that PM Khoso is a gentleman; however, gentleness is not what is required at his position. Nevertheless, Mengal announced that his party would partake in the upcoming polls regardless of threats from the establishment.
Megal has apprised the chief election commissioner of his reservations on the transparency of upcoming elections. He requested the media to form teams and visit the areas which are called tense accompanied by judges of the superior judiciary to decide whether atmosphere there is congenial for holding elections or not.
Responding to the concerns, Justice (R) Tariq Mahmood said that the Election Commission could not be held responsible for everything since it is the responsibility of the outgoing government to leave conducive atmosphere for elections. He indicated that the prime minister could have played a significant role in improving the situation but he does not have any political background.
