As PML-N leaders consider issuing party tickets to the most suitable candidates for the upcoming elections, rivalry between party members is on its peak. Apparently, a PML-N worker from PP-149 was severely beaten up by his rivals within the party outside its Model Town Secretariat. The worker had lauded the former Deputy Speaker Rana Mashood during a meeting of ticket aspirants from Lahore.
Reportedly, situation in PP-149 is worsening as anti-Mashood lobby is aggressively working to bring him down. The rival group includes Sheikh Khalid Aftab and Shoaib Khan Niazi who have both submitted applications form for the seat of MPA. The anti-Mashood lobby also arranged a protest rally on Wednesday and is even issuing threats to the workers loyal to him.
On the other hand, PML-N has hinted that neither Nawaz Sharif nor Shahbaz Sharif would contest the forthcoming elections against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan from Lahore. Allegedly, the party’s senior leadership has strongly advised the Sharif brothers against contesting elections from constituencies where Imran Khan would be standing.
The PML-N has advised Nawaz to contest from NA 120 while Shahbaz plans on contesting from various cities across the province. The party will soon decide on whom to field against the PTI chairman, who is contemplating running for NA-126 Lahore.
According to unofficial reports, Zain Ansar will run for NA 257 seat, Marvi Memon for NA 237, Liaquat Jatoi from Dadu, Elahi Bukhs Soomro from Jaccobabad, Zafar Ali Shah from Naushero Feroz, Ghous Ali Shah from Khairpur, Amir Buksh Bhutto from Shahdad Kot and Sher Muhammad Rind from Nawabshah.
