The economic brains of two major political parties in the upcoming general election happen to be brothers. Asad Umar, who previously headed a fertilizer producing unit, is ardently supporting the chief of PTI Imran Khan while his elder brother, Zubair Umar is a huge fan of Shahbaz Sharif.
Zubair believes that his brother is been misguided and will soon realize that PML-N is the only political party sincerely working for the economic development of Pakistan.
“We are old Leaguers dating back to our father, who was a close aide to Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah. But Asad has drifted away although he had had excellent relations with Shahbaz Sharif and was in every key committee formed by him as chief minister,” Zubair told the media.
Zubair served the IBM for 25 years at senior positions. Their youngest brother is the incumbent president of Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE). On the other hand, Asad claims to have first introduced Zubair to Shahbaz in London.
“When one day I was going to have lunch with Shahbaz Sharif in London, my brother, who was also there, phoned me to know my program, and as I told him about the feast, he asked me to take him along. I did that. This is how Zubair Bhai came to know Shahbaz Sharif,” he said.
Asad does not make an effort to hide his ties with Shahbaz Sharif. He candidly accepted that he has closely worked with the former chief minister of Punjab during his tenure; however, after critically analyzing the economic agendas of all four major political parties, he found Khan’s plans the most promising of all.
“I don’t believe in personalities but am committed to the program of the PTI. I don’t care what leaders of my party and PML-N are saying against each other,” Asad added.
well just to let u guys know these brothers r definitely up to something…..their brother tariq umer has close ties with exprescomment_IDent pervaiz musharraf, and his son married zardari sisters daughter. so iguess they r trying to keep up with all the parties. good for them.
well what we need in these times r ppl who are honest and not just educated and successful, cuz we can find enuf examples of ppl in political parties who have studied from oxford university n Cambrcomment_IDge universities, but are still very corrupt. so think wisely before u support these people.
I would say Imran khan is the only one whos proven himself as honest over the years. I support him. but not all the people in his party unless proven.
Allah knows best but don’t you think he proved himself by turning Engro Fertilizer into profitable business… Also Asad Umar is awarded by sitara-e-imitiaz for his services. He resigned from Engro to join PTI.
When Zubair tagged along with his brother to meet Shahbaz, He clearly knew what he wants out of this meeting. That’s why he became minister very quickly without having any experience and any lengthy affiliation with the PML-N. A recognized brown nose.
