Friends and family close to businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles claim to have seen her parents lose all their money and hit the road to poverty. Her friends from high school find it really difficult to believe that her parents could have left P2 million.

According to multiple sources, Napoles’ father Johnny Lim was almost bankrupt when he died. Those close to her believe she possibly could not have inherited such a huge amount of sum from her father. Napoles allegedly rigged P10-billion in pork barrel releases from the government. She is accused of misusing NGOs for personal benefits and is now in police custody.

Meanwhile, Napoles has launched perjury complaints against whistleblower Benhur Luy and his family which are set to be resolved if she fails to submit her reply to the arguments raised by the respondents. Napoles has until September 13 to submit her reply.

Assistant City Prosecutor Philger Noel Inovejas said he is counting on Napoles’ response which will help him arrive at a fair and judicious resolution of the case. Luy has accused Napoles and her brother for restricting his travel for three months because of his knowledge of the scam. The hearing was initially set on August 28 but Luy snubbed it.

Defending the special treatment and enhanced security measures implemented to protect Napoles, her lawyer Atty. Lorna Kapunan said: “Can you imagine the public uproar if she gets killed under the watch of the President? Can you imagine what will happen? I can imagine: They will blame it on him.”
