The recent appointments in Sindh police have given new hope to the citizens of Karachi. As the federal and provincial governments remain determined to exterminate criminals operating in the port city, Sindh police announces noteworthy changes in the department and deploys officers with remarkable credibility.

The recent set of police officers posted by Sindh police has spread a new wave of terror among militant groups in Karachi. Sindh police can now be expected to operate without any political pressure. Although, senior police officers believe that there are many other officers in the department who are more qualified and experienced than the recently posted DIGs, they are still confident that these officials will take all the necessary measurements to achieve the said targets.

Nonetheless, the coordination and understanding between Karachi police and Rangers is considered extremely significant during the process. It is believed that even Sindh government knows that these police officers might not listen to its requests and proceed against criminals without discrimination. Bashir Memon has been recently posted as Additional IG (AIG), Development; Amir Sheikh as DIG Crime Investigation Department (CID) and Tahir Navid as DIG, Finance.

Although, the majority believes that recent postings clearly reflect that Singh government is determined in crushing the menace in Karachi, the MQM has labeled the reshuffle as politically motivated. A senior member of MQM was quoted saying, “How the actions for restoration of peace could be termed impartial and transparent when the government wants to carry out operations through its favorite officers?”
