The United States of America has refused to support the Pakistan and TTP (Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan) peace talks by stating it as an internal matter of the country. ‘We of course are closely following the recent developments and reports. The issue of whether to negotiate with TTP (Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan) is an internal matter for Pakistan,’ stated the US State Department Spokesperson, Jen Psaki. The Obama administration indicated that it would only make senior Al-Qaeda members its target should they become available for a strike. The US has promised to take immediate action should a “direct, imminent threat to US persons” come about. The current lull in the drone operations is the longest since 2011.

The Taliban leader, Hakimullah Mehsud , was one of the Talibans to die by drone and was killed by a drone strike just days before Pakistan was set to meet the Taliban for negotiations. This resulted in cancelation of the summit and made the hard trying government furious over the US. The Pakistani government has been trying for years to bring peace to the country. After being asked to curb drone strikes this time, US have taken a break and no drones have made their way to Pakistan. The action taken by PTI to stop NATO supply to US army has also made a great impact on the United States.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has tried his best to bring peace to the country by initiating peace talks with the Taliban for the second time since he took office in June. He says he’s disappointed that the Taliban are still attacking innocent people of Pakistan. ‘The government is doing what it can to stop drone attacks,’ he said, ‘but we can no longer allow the massacre of innocent civilians. The situation is not acceptable anymore.’
