The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has announced that they plan to observe a day of mourning on Saturday, against the extra-judicial killings of its party workers. This was announced by the MQM leader Haider Abbas Rivzi while he was addressing a press conference in Karachi this Friday. He claims that the MQM party workers have had enough and are not going to tolerate more torture directed towards their workers.

Rizvi appealed to traders and transporters to shut down their business tomorrow. The MQM leader said extra-judicial killing of its party workers is being being carried out. He said that their party has no information of 45 missing party activists and that he has no clue whether the missing workers are alive or in the custody of law enforcement agencies. He also said Muhammad Suleman and his nephew were arrested by the Karachi police from the Korangi Crossing on February 3rd. He said according to the post-mortem report of Suleman he was brutally tortured before death.

He further added that he demands human rights groups to take notice of the extra-judicial killings of MQM activists. On this occasion, MQM leader Nasreen Jalil said that the Karachi police chief Shahid Hayat should also be nominated in the FIR of party activist’s killing. ‘We still don’t know about the whereabouts of our 45 other activists,’ said Rizvi referring to innocent citizens being killed during operation,’The list of missing persons is on the rise.’
