The new of rejection to give a BJP ticket from the Barmer Lok Sabha constituency to the senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Jaswant Singh made his supporters go into a rampage and sabotage the party’s office in Jaisalmer.

After the rejection Singh had clearly expressed his unhappiness and had commented that that there was a need to differentiate between the “real” and the “fake” BJP. He further added that things happening in the party nowadays do not coincide with its ideology.  There is no clear report on whether the 76 year old leader will contest as an independent from the Barmer seat. The BJP after denying Singh gave the Barmer Lok Sabha seat ticket to the new member in their party from Congress, Sonaram Choudhry. “It is so unfortunate that the BJP has been completely taken over by the elements (outsiders), who never have any respect of party’s ideology”, said Singh without taking Sonaram Choudhry’s name.

Singh currently represents Darjeeling in Lok Sabha. He is expected to announce his decision of whether to contest as an independent on the 24th of March. Calling the BJP a divided party, Jaswant Singh said, “One which is real and the other is unreal or better put original and duplicate. Unfortunately the duplicate part has the reins of party now.” There are rumors in the air that Jaswant Singh is thinking of quitting the BJP ahead of the General Elections. Singh also ruled out any compromise on his demand for Barmer constituency. In a veiled attack, Singh said, “The party has done this to me twice now and now there is no chance of accepting any alternative proposal.”
