Fire In Lahore, Sharif Takes Notice

A fire erupted in a shopping plaza early this Tuesday morning. The shops were to open at around 11 a.m. but the fire started approximately two hours earlier, at about 9 a.m. The fire which erupted in a multi-floored commercial plaza near Kalma Chowk was successfully doused by the fire-fighting teams of Lahore and all trapped persons were safely rescued. The fire had engulfed the fourth floor of the plaza and was spreading throughout the building but after an hour long of work by the fire fighters, it was brought under control and finally extinguished.

Rescue teams swiftly rushed to the scene of the incident and rescued several persons including women who were trapped inside the building. Around seven fire tenders and Rescue 1122 teams took part in the operation to extinguish the fire. The Lahore DCO, Dr. Ahmad Javed on information of the incident also arrived at the location of the fire and supervised the rescue work of the officials. Some offices at the plaza were destroyed in the wake of the fire, however, no loss of life occurred due to deft handling of the situation by fire-fighting teams.

Four people were present on the fourth floor and were immediately taken for medical assistance to the nearest hospitals. The Punjab Chief Minister, Shahbaz Sharif taking notice of the incident has sought report from the concerned authorities.
