Singapore’s population of approximately 1.2 million is expected to receive this week ‘Stay Prepared’ Starter Kits. Each ‘Stay Prepared’ Starter Kit will contain three 3M N95 face masks, a booklet of instructions on how to wear the masks and also contact numbers which should be used incase of emergencies. These kits will be distributed by the Singapore Power and the Singapore Post to all households in Singapore and the mission is expected to finish within the 6th and 12th of May.
About 17,000 of these kits will also be delivered to the charity homes, and another 300,000 kits are expected to be put on standby for all those needy families which come up with a case of severe haze or flu pandemic emergencies. This initiative is taken by Temasek Cares which is a non-profit, philanthropic arm of Temasek Holdings aiming to encourage individuals and families of Singapore to be prepared for emergencies. Approximately 1,200 postmen and postwomen will distribute the kits to every HDB and high-rise household. In addition, Singapore Power has also mobilized their meter readers, technicians and staff volunteers to distribute the kits.
The Chairman of Temasek Cares Richard Magnus said, “Singapore is a safe city. However, unforeseen events may adversely impact us and our community from time to time. All of us – individuals, families, companies – have to be prepared. For this reason, Temasek Cares wants to help build the resilience of our community through its ‘Stay Prepared’ initiative.” Singapore Power also has set up a hotline where any member of the public can get information about the delivery of kits in their area.
