Chief of Army Staff, General Raheel Sharif, this Monday said that all terrorists and their hideouts will be eliminated in North Waziristan according to a local media house. He said this while addressing officers at the National Defense University in Islamabad. Gen Sharif said that the operation Zarb-e-Azb would not end until the goal of the operation, that is a complete wipe out of terrorism, is not achieved.

“All hideouts of terrorists in North Waziristan will be destroyed,” he said, adding on second day of the operation 27 more terrorists have been killed. Pakistan intelligence has confirmed that more than hundred militants have been killed in overnight strikes in the tribal region. The tribal region has been evacuated and many families living there are ready to migrate to Afghanistan or to other areas of Pakistan. Earlier, ISPR informed that this Monday morning 6 terrorists’ hideouts in Shawal, North Waziristan Agency were destroyed by jet aircrafts which lead to the death  of 27 militants hiding there.

Latest airstrikes came after Sunday morning air assault in Degan- Boya in North Wazirastan in which 140 terrorists, most of them Uzbeks, were killed. “Many ETIM terrorists and their affiliates have also been killed in the strikes. It was a massive blow to the terrorists and one of their main communication centre has been dismantled,” the statement said.
