The Punjab Law and Education Minister Rana Mashood this Wednesday informed the media that the Punjab government has planned to raise funds for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of North Waziristan through volunteers. He was talking to the media at the Government College University (GCU) and further added that the force of volunteers will be made using the cooperation of both private and public schools and universities.

The minister, according to Samaa channel, said that the employees of all public sector universities had donated their one day salary in the IDPs fund, adding the Punjab government was utilizing all available resources for the rehabilitation of IDPs in Punjab. The funds would be raised by organizing tournaments of various games, he said and added that Pakistan Cricket Board and other sports departments would auction bats, kits, shoes and others material bearing the signature of renowned players.  The collected money would be deposited in the IDPs fund.

The minister urged the youth to come forward and play their due role in the rehabilitation of IDPs and conduct door to door visits to motivate people for their cooperation with the government in fund-raising. To a question about Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf’s long march to be held on August 14, he said that it seemed PTI chief Imran Khan did not want to see progress, prosperity and economic development in the country and wanted to destabilize the democratic process and system in the country.
