The Chief Minister of Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif, went to visit the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) on the second day of Eid and glorified the sacrifices being given by the army and the IDPs. He further gave a list of promises to the IDPs which included a university, a hospital and schools for the future generations of the IDPs.

He also promised that he will build a minimum of 2000 houses for the internally displaced and they would be able to avail them on their return back to their land. He sympathized with the IDPs saying that he knew that Eid was nothing if they weren’t able to celebrate it happily, in their homes. He further added that the war against terrorism is not less important where Pakistan is now fighting for its survival, than the one fought in 1965 for a specific objective. He said that the Pakistani armed forces will give a crushing blow to the Talibans in North Waziristan. He informed the IDPs and the army that the people of Pakistan are standing should to shoulder with the armed forces. The Punjab chief minister said that the people of North Waziristan are benefactors of the nation as they left their homes for the survival of the country.

He said that the entire Pakistani nation has been praying for the displaced brethren as well as for the success of the army during the month of Ramadan and he is confident that peace will be restored in the country soon and that the displaced brethren and sisters will be able to return to their homes. He assured that all out help and assistance will be provided to the IDPs till their complete rehabilitation.
